Obituary For Lowell Barlow

Lowell Barlow, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Edmonton, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the University of Alberta Hospital – ICU in Edmonton, at the age of 48 years. He had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), pneumonia, sepsis, staph aureus, and legionnaires disease on July 31, 2018. He passed very quickly and unexpectedly eleven days later.

Lowell was born June 20, 1970 in Edmonton, AB to John Lawrence Barlow and Joan Laura Barlow (nee Grant). He was the younger brother to Jan and Les Barlow. They moved to an acreage south of Spruce Grove at the age of 4. He lived around the Edmonton area and worked as a meat cutter for most of his life.

He moved to the Grande Prairie area in 2010. Lowell bought land out past Hythe. He worked at Superstore, did x-ray for a short time, then worked at Northgate Safeway from 2013 until present. He met his partner Jocelyn Cadieux in 2014.

Lowell was hard working, willing to help others, funny, had a sense of humour, quiet, and kept to himself. He had the biggest smile and a heart of gold.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, quading, working with his hands, his dogs, and all animals. He loved listening to heavy metal.

He will be sadly missed by his partner of 4 years Jocelyn Cadieux and his 16-month-old daughter Nevaeh Celeste Barlow. Nevaeh, born April 1, 2017, was daddy’s little sunshine. He will also be missed by his lifelong friend and coworker Arthur Smith, Jill Wilton of Edmonton, numerous friends, coworkers, customers, and family.

He was predeceased by his mother Joan Laura Barlow (nee Grant), father John Lawrence Barlow, and grandmother Evelyn Barlow.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 22, 2018, at 11:00am, at People’s Church in Grande Prairie (11850 108 St.).

Memorial donations may be made to a trust account for Nevaeh Barlow at the Bank of Montreal Westside Drive (direct deposit slips available at the service), or to People’s Church (11850 108 St, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8G5).
