Obituary For Louise Pearl Allen Mitchell

Louise Mitchell, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, “old and satisfied”, at the age of 88 years.

Louise was born on February 19, 1932, in Toronto, ON. Her parents, Herbert and Daisy Allen, moved to her Uncle’s farm at Ballyduff, ON, in her early childhood. There, she met her future husband, Porter James Mitchell, and they married on July 29, 1950, and went on to have five children.

Louise and her husband liked to travel. They spent six years in Newfoundland before making the move to Grande Prairie in 1980, where they made their home.

She loved to play the piano and enjoyed oil painting. Many will remember her for her love of the colour purple. She was affectionally called “the purple lady”.

Louise began to study the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957. As a faithful servant of Jehovah, Louise looked forward to living in a paradise earth, where sickness and pain will no longer exist. In line with John 5:28-29, her friends and family look forward to seeing her resurrected as a righteous one to Jehovah’s beautiful, cleansed new earth soon to come. She will be remembered for her zeal for the ministry and her strong faith.

Louise will be forever missed by her children: Kathryn (Wilson) Easton of Aspen Cove, NL; Allen (Brenda) Mitchell of Bowmanville, ON; Paul (Diane) Mitchell of Enderby, BC; and Arlene (Kevin) Gaudon of Oakville, ON; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband Porter Mitchell; daughter Karen; and three older brothers: Roy, James “Jim” and William “Bill.

A virtual Zoom Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 1:00pm MST. For more information about joining, please text (780) 402-1810.

Louise will be buried beside her husband Porter at Ballyduff, ON.

My dear friends Al and Paul, Colleen and I are saddened to know your sweet mother is resting in death. I have many fond memories of your Mom and Dad from visiting together as kids in Port, and later in life, as well. We too look forward to the time when the only true God Jehovah sets all of our sadness aside and we can be reunited with our family members who are currently in the dust. Pleased be assured of our warm Christian love, and may Jehovah help you cope with these difficult days. Your Brother and friend, Morgan
