We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Linda Kerry Plante
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Linda Plante, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 67 years. We will forever cherish her memory as a loving, kind, and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humour.
Mom overcame many struggles in life and is now at peace with the Lord. We know she was proud of our accomplishments and determination to succeed in life. She truly loved us.
Mom was born in Grande Prairie, AB, and graduated from the Composite High School. She then attended Grande Prairie Regional College, where she received a degree in secretarial sciences. She moved to Calgary and worked for Dome Petroleum. Mom came back to Grande Prairie, married, and brought the two of us into the world. She also worked for Alberta Mental Health for a number of years.
Mom was an athlete, playing school basketball and volleyball. She was an exceptional broomball player and won top forward two times. She also played in a slo-pitch league.
Mom had a flair for fashion and was always dressed up with her makeup on. She was very creative and took part in organizing and decorating for holiday events during her years at Brodie Manor.
She resided at Emerald Gardens for a brief period before her passing. Thank you to the staff for the exceptional care you provided.
Her memory will be treasured by her daughter, Nicholle Akin (Oguz) of Victoria, BC; son Justin Plante of Edmonton, AB; brother Doug Carter (Ghislaine); sisters Kathy Sutherland (Kirk) and Debbie Plante (Dale); sister-in-law Gerry Carter; lifelong friend, Vicky Mackey; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives who meant so much to her.
She was predeceased by her mother, Doris Carter; sisters Joan Dietrich (Hans) and Patricia Molyneaux (Lyle); brother Robert Carter; and niece Cassidy Dietrich.
“I’m always just a thought away
Our souls could never part
Connected for eternity
Forever in your heart.”
Mom’s funeral will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. After this, interment will take place at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave and 112 St).
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca/) or Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association, in remembrance of Libra (bandagedpaws.org/donate).
