It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Linda Cicilia Wilson (nee Holden) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 83.

Linda was born on February 8, 1942, in Drumheller, Alberta, to Walter and Rosalia Holden. She cherished a simple yet loving childhood, growing up alongside her four siblings. She often spoke fondly of her early years in Drumheller, whether it was time spent living with her family at the Drumheller swimming pool (as caretakers), exploring the Hoodoos, playing in the hills, or her time spent working at Jimmy’s Grocery Store. These memories always brought a smile to her face.

She later moved to Whitecourt, AB where she raised her three children: Rhonda, Rodney and Kathy. She worked in housekeeping at the Whitecourt Hospital and later as the head of housekeeping at the River’s Hotel. In 1993, she settled in Grande Prairie, Alberta, the place she called home for the past 32 years.

Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother, always ready for a heartfelt chat or a warm visit. She was an avid baker, with a freezer full of treats ready to share with anyone who stopped by. She had a sharp wit and dry sense of humour that always kept us laughing.

She had many hobbies, including puzzles, crocheting, reading, board games (especially scrabble), colouring, and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed classic country music, sports, biographies, and a good true crime series.

Linda had a strong work ethic and deeply rooted family values: she was a constant source of support and comfort. She was always there to listen and lend a helping hand. Her home was a place of warmth, filled with love and laughter, where family was always welcome.

Linda is survived by her children; Rhonda (Ray) Commandeur, Rodney (Debbie) Wilson, Kathy (Trevor) Wilson. And as well as Barbara Calon (sister), Danna Holden (sister-in-law) and Gordon Ripper (brother-in-law). She was a proud grandmother to: Darren (Crystal) McPhee, Jayson (Jacqueline) McPhee, Christie (Paul) Beard, Brennan Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Brooklynn Wilson, Colten Sutherland, Derek (Dayel) Sutherland, Kacie Haire.

Great grandmother to Ava, Jack, Gracie, Hudson, Eddie, Gavin, Sadie, and Beau.

She was predeceased by Rosalia Holden (mother), Walter Holden (father), Cora Ripper (sister), Grenville Holden (brother), Marina Glennie (sister), Bruce Glennie (brother-in-law) and Paul Calon (brother-in-law).

There will be a Memorial Service held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie)

Internment will be held at a later date.
