Obituary For Leslie Earl Fraser

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leslie Earl Fraser announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 94 years. He was formally a long-time resident of Teepee Creek and most recently resided in Grande Prairie.

Leslie was born on November 2, 1931, the second child of Donald and Margaret Fraser. Along with his parents, older sister Annette, and younger sister Irene, the family was honored with Master Farm Family in 1956. Leslie continued to take pride in his land and crops, before retiring from Pleasant View Farm and moving to town in 2003. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and steadfast commitment to his community.

Leslie was a strong, quiet-natured man who led by example. He loved his family dearly and was known as one of the pillars of the Teepee Creek community. He was one of the founding members of local fire department TCFD, applied research group formed in the area known as TARP, a Teepee Creek Museum actor in the dinner theatres, cemetery caretaker for many decades, and secretary for the Teepee Creek Stampede. Leslie was also known for volunteering with installing electricity on the grounds and spending hours in the school food booth over the many years. He was always willing to step up when Stampede, 4-H clubs, school groups, sports teams, CNIB, or any group needed a volunteer shift for bingo, selling tickets, or working at a late-night casino.

Some wondered whether Leslie, a lifelong farmer, would adjust to town life, but he quickly made it his new home. Age was never a concern for Leslie. At 70, he taught himself to play the keyboard, built countless playlists, and volunteered by playing music at local seniors’ homes for “the old people.” He was proud to volunteer alongside three generations at the Teepee Creek Stampede and even started water skiing just before his 50th birthday. His love of gardening continued in town, where he took great pride in his garden and fruit trees, tending his last garden just two years ago. He also spent many hours supporting his grandchildren, proudly cheering them on in basketball, football, gymkhana, barrel racing, hockey, swimming, and snowboarding.

Leslie leaves treasured memories with his loving wife of 63 years, Adele Fraser; his three daughters and their families: Brenda Desfosses, husband John and children Mars Wohlgemuth, Denay (Kenny) Bjornson and daughters Zalie and Mazie, Amanda Wolgemuth (Jake Semchism) and daughters Farah, Nyla, and Freya; Patricia Stanton, husband Randal and son Brandon; Lorrie Beck, husband Corey and children Lezlee, Erika, and Kenidee (Jessie) Wall and daughter Evelyn; his sister, Irene Love (Bill); sisters-in-law Linda Ogden (Ray) and Alva Sorken; and many other friends and family that knew him as Uncle Les.

Leslie was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Annette, and many other family members and friends who were meaningful to the family.

Leslie will be remembered with love and gratitude for his steady heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to the people and place he called home, while offering dependability, kindness, and support to those around him. His presence brought comfort, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Martin and Sheila for many years of support, and most recently, Dr. Anez for his care and compassion during the last five years.

Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Association of Alberta (https://parkinsonassociation.ca/).

The celebration of Leslie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB (10005-107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon and sharing of memories in Oliver’s Tea Room.
