Obituary For Leo Edward Reding

It's with heavy hearts and in loving memory, the Reding family announces the passing of a great man, Leo Edward Reding, on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 83 years.

Leo was born on May 15, 1942, in the humble town of Bruno, SK, to his loving parents, Marie and Joseph Reding. He grew up on the family farm alongside his five siblings.

Leo soon found the love of his life and married Barbara Eileen Weiss on August 8, 1964. They started a beautiful family with their two sons, Trevor and Troy. Leo and Barbara spent their early years chasing the boys around the ball diamonds and hockey arenas, with Leo reffing the odd hockey game.

Leo's career in the fuel industry brought them through three provinces before settling down in the city of Grande Prairie. If you asked Leo where he called home, it would be in the bush, with the boys, on the cut line with an elk in his sights. Moving to Grande Prairie allowed him to do what he loved. He started a new career at Weyerhaeuser Mill in 1993 until 2009 when he hung up his boots to enjoy his retirement. Then he focused his time volunteering with local groups such as Camp Tamarack, Knights of Columbus, and the Alberta Hockey Association. He then created his workshop and spent his free time with his grandkids.

Leo will be sadly missed by many, including his crew of local pals, his family, and his children, Trevor (Tanya) Reding and Troy Reding; grandchildren, Ashley Kimble, Lexie (Lake) Mayne, Dayton Reding, Cody Reding, and Shayla Reding; great-grandchildren James Thomasen, Landyn Gayton, and McKinley Mayne; and great-great-grandchild Amelia Thomasen.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marie Reding, his five siblings, two sisters, Louise Brown and Mariann Beggs, and his three brothers, Francis Reding, Harold Reding, and Alan Reding.

We hope the mornings are cool, the elk are bugling, and you shoot straight, Dad ....... Love always, your family.

Memorial donations may be made to Camp Tamarack (Box 1333, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4Z1), the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories (https://alzheimer.ca/ab/en?form=FUNCHJAQRFT), and Stars Air Ambulance (https://give.stars.ca/page/125748/donate/1).

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Camp Tamarack Main Hall (704081 RR 62) in Grovedale, AB.
