Obituary For Laurie McMaster Wardill

Laurie Ellen Wardill (nee McMaster), 55, passed away peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, at Points West Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB, on the evening of Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Laurie was born to Allan and Dorothy McMaster on June 7, 1960, at Fort St. John, BC. She moved to Grande Prairie in 1977, where she attended Grande Prairie Regional College for the Office Administration program. She worked for the City of Grande Prairie until 1996 and finished her career working at Cutbank Trucking.

She is survived be her husband, Ray Wardill of Grovedale; son Curtis McMaster and wife Dawn (Anara and Astrid); step-son Morgan Wardill and partner Shiloh Barber (Jada); step-daughter Kari Rakestraw and husband Bryan (Brandon and Skylar); sister Terry Pomeroy and husband Hughie (Clayton and Steve); and brother in-law Rick Harder (Tia). She will be missed by her numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Allan and Dorothy McMaster, sister Karen Harder and nephew Justin Pomeroy.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00am, Forbes Presbyterian Church in Grande Prairie (9635 76 Ave.). Interment of cremains will follow the service, and a lunch for family and friends will be held after the interment at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (#103 9805 97 St. Grande Prairie, AB T8V 8B9), or to Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society (P.O. Box 21215 Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6W7).
