Lance Martens, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, into the presence of his Savior, at the age of 81 years.

Lance Ruloph Martens was born and raised in Abbotsford, BC, on March 28, 1942. He was 1 of 14 siblings, 7 girls and 7 boys! Lance lived his remaining years in Grande Prairie (2016-2023).

Lance had many years of experience working in various industries throughout BC and AB before settling into Edson, AB in the coal industry as a heavy-duty equipment operator until his retirement (1978-2005).

Lance worked hard and enjoyed his retirement, keeping himself busy with different ventures. He had an interesting sense of humour that kept people wondering. Lance loved relaxing with others, playing traditional card games, a good cup of coffee, a good barbecue, and keeping an eye on the national news.

He is survived by his daughter Elisa; two sons Brett and Robin.

He will also be missed by his grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and those who knew him.
