Obituary For Koda Allen James Badger

Our sweet son Koda passed away surrounded by love on Thursday, April 18, 2023, in Edmonton Alberta at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Koda had just turned 7 years old.

Koda spent much of his time playing with his sisters and his four-legged family members. From a young age, Koda showed a deep love for animals. He was especially close with his 2 cats Q-Tip and Bijoux.

Not only did Koda enjoy being outdoors playing golf or collecting rocks, but he also loved art, natural materials, and nature. His kind heart was very creative. He loved coloring, painting, and his rock collection.

As little boys are, he was full of energy and life. And our boy quite enjoyed his Jujitsu classes. He was ever so proud to have just recently earned his white stripe on his belt.

This curious little Mando Foundling was a lover of Star Wars and was drawn to the Mandalorian series and Baby Grogu.

As You can imagine at the age of 7 years old, he played video games. His favorites were Mario, Pokémon, Sonic, and many more.

Koda was a student at Alexander Forbes School. He loved playing with his classmates and friends at his lunch breaks.

He will be forever missed by mother Chrissie; father Kiefer; step-father Josh; sisters Hennessy, Halle, and Sofia; as well as all of his close family members, friends, and classmates. We know he is safe in the loving arms of his grandmother.

A viewing was held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie.

A Celebration of Koda’s Life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Koda’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

This will be an opportunity for us to gather and honour Koda's life in a meaningful and peaceful way. We will come together to share stories and memories of the special times we spent with Koda, remembering the joy and love he brought into our lives.

Memorial Donations may be made to Kids With Cancer (11135 84 Ave., Edmonton, AB, T6G 0V9), or to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation (800 College Plaza 8215 – 112 St., Edmonton, AB, T6G 2C8).

Kieffer, having met you and Henni...and than Koda .... Seeing you with your children. Being a single father and facing life's unexpected blessings and challenges. Be proud man. You're strong and someone to look up too. Although your beautiful little spirit holds your hand in the light, he is still looking up to ...at his side. His short time here walking his path was and has changed people's lives. Unfortunately giving all of us a perspective on how life truly is short. His journey as I know for myself ...opened my eyes with what the heck I am really doing with my life...with my children's life. Losing my partner I chose for life is something I am still trying to over come today. I hope in the times of darkness, that you are given the gifts, that I have experianced ... That has truly made me believe that heaven is for real. It is the only thing that helps get through the day. One day we get to be with those we love. .... And definitely gives me comfort with the amount tears ... Don't let it get to you with the tears my friend .... It is something new to me being such on such emotional roller coaster ... With the tears. They will come whenever and wherever ....dosent matter what you are doing at the moment.... Just let it happen .... And when asked how are you ... It's fine to say.... Nothing at all .... All the words of people wanting to comfort you....with the physical loss Koda.... Most times people don't even know what to say..... With all the loss we have been experiencing... We also get those back whom we thought we had lost for good. Koda has changed not only your life. A few I am sure of it. Today is his celebration of life. Just like all his birthdays .... He's looking at you Kiefer.

I am a EA at Alexander Forbes and spent time watching Koda playing outside at recess with his friends. He always had a smile on his face and loved chasing his friends around the playground. RIP Koda and you will never be forgotten. 💕
