Obituary For Kirk Anthony Lightfoot
It is with profound sadness that the family of Kirk Anthony Lightfoot announce his sudden passing on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 68.
Kirk will be forever remembered by his quick wit, kind heart and generous spirit. With a smile and a "How's she going?" to everyone he met, there are many who will share in grieving his loss.
Kirk was born July 16, 1956, the middle child of Dale and Shirley Lightfoot. He spent his early years on the family farm in BC before moving to Grande Prairie after the passing of his father. It is here that he would spend most of his life. Kirk was a bright student, but sports were a passion where he excelled, particularly on the ball diamond.
Over the years Kirk dabbled in a little bit of everything from becoming a journeyman painter to an experienced scaffolder. To hear Kirk tell it, there isn't a roof in Grande Prairie he didn't have a hand in building!
Later in life Kirk enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and building just about anything you can imagine. He loved taking old pallets and transforming them into everything from kitchen tables to beautiful decor pieces to dollhouses and more.
While proud of the projects he created Kirk's real joy came from his family. He loved his children and grandchildren immensely. He was forever their biggest fan and could often be found watching a ball game from center field or standing behind the net at the ice rink.
Kirk is survived by his four children: Shyra Pruitt, Mark Giroux, Cory Kinnon and Danielle Kinnon along with their mother Donna Kinnon. He will be remembered fondly by his granddaughters: Sierra, Taryn, Megan, Reese, Mason, Tazlyn and grandson Crew. Kirk also leaves to mourn much loved extended family members, friends and neighbors.
Kirk was predeceased by his father Dale, mother Shirley, brother Keith and sister Tracey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Should you wish to provide a donation in Kirk's memory please consider the following:
