We celebrate the life of Kim Spencer Logan, who peacefully crossed over from this life on July 24, 2026, at the age of 73, in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Kim was born on July 26, 1952, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and lived a life defined by curiosity, exploration, and a genuine love of learning. From his parents, Grace, a passionate teacher of ancient history, and Elmer, a civic-minded lawyer and builder—Kim inherited a deep respect for education, justice, and the power of community-building.

Spending time at the family ranch along the Simonette River was a blessing. Walking the gravel bars, hiking in the forests, or quietly watching wildlife, Kim found his sanctuary. It was there that his lifelong sense of wonder and adventure took root.

Kim’s curiosity guided him throughout life. Whether mastering the intricacies of energy systems, exploring faraway countries, or understanding delicate ecosystems, he remained a lifelong student—eager to ask questions, learn deeply, and share insights.

He retired from a successful forestry industry career with Procter & Gamble and Weyerhaeuser, where he held senior leadership roles in operations, energy, and strategy. Later, he founded Logan’s Clear Vision Consulting Ltd., offering expert advice across Canada and the U.S. on energy markets, environmental attributes, and climate solutions. Kim brought candor, insight, and creativity to every boardroom and conversation.

As he often said, “It’s easy to make a decision, but you need to live with the consequences," a principle he honored, knowing that choices echo beyond their moment.

Throughout his career, Kim served in leadership and board roles for several Canadian power and natural gas associations. His work earned him deep respect, with many colleagues recognizing his professionalism, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Volunteering was a cornerstone of Kim’s life. He was a founding member, director, and long-time supporter of the Northwestern Alberta Foundation, serving on the Financial Stewardship Committee and the Ambassador Club for over three decades. He also served as President, Vice-President, and Director of the Grande Prairie & District United Way, and more recently as Director and Governance Chair for the Central Okanagan Foundation.

He led quietly—through example, through mentorship, and through his unwavering commitment to the greater good.

Extensive travel allowed Kim to experience the world and its people firsthand. He explored the plains of East Africa, marveled at the herds and vast ecosystems, and stood before the Pyramids and Sphinx after watching a freighter transit the Suez Canal. He sailed the wild Drake Passage, absorbing the raw isolation of Antarctica.

He found peace in the green pastures of Ireland, inspiration in the highlands of Scotland, and beauty in the lakes of England.

Mexico remained a cherished favorite. There, Kim and Jeanine hosted friends and family through their residence club—gatherings filled with laughter, reflection, and connection. These were joyful retreats where Kim’s easygoing nature and love of good company truly shone.

“The art of doing nothing is really something,” he once said—a sentiment captured in the peaceful beach scene that hung in his office, and in the way he embraced stillness and presence.

Kim is survived by his devoted wife Jeanine, whose warmth and grace were a source of strength throughout their life together.

He is also survived by his brother Bruce (Judi); nieces and nephews David Logan, Robert Logan, Janine (Mike) Henderson, Stacey (Ron) Joyce, Darcy (Alexis) Logan, Stacey (Darren) Dunnigan, and Janna.

He is lovingly remembered by Jeanine’s family as well: her mother Vivian, her brother Ken (Cathy), and her sister Lisa (Niels).

He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother Ina Watt, his parents Elmer and Grace Logan, and his brothers Merritt and Dwight. The family also honor earlier marriages: Bruce (Shirley) and Merritt (Maureen).

At Kim’s request, cremation has taken place.
