Obituary For Kelly Shreenan

Kelly Shreenan, resident of Valhalla Center, Alberta, formerly of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Beaverlodge Hospital at age 52. Kelly was born December 12, 1962 in Grande Prairie, Alberta to parents Rodney and Eunice Shreenan. He was raised and attended school in Grande Prairie. Kelly was named after Rodney`s younger brother Kelly, a great Irish name. Kelly`s Dad Rodney instilled in each of his three boys, a great love of the outdoors. Kelly along with his two older brothers, Lorrie and Todd, each developed a life-long passion for hunting, fishing and camping. Kelly`s education was definitely not classroom-based; he learned hands-on from Mother Nature. He decided to become a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator around age 16, when he moved to Watson Lake to work with his brother Lorrie. He worked in forestry, construction and oilfield industries. He was recognized for his â??finishing-catâ?? skills. He continued his career in this line of work until his passing. Over time, Kelly honed his hunting skills to the point where, for a number of years, he became a big-game guide to a friend who brings international hunters to the beautiful Valhalla area. Kellyâ??s most notable accomplishment was his â??gift of the gabâ??. He loved talking to people, young and old. He travelled the countryside, stopping to visit friends and talking to people he didnâ??t know which usually led to him adding another person to his ever-expanding circle of friends. He loved life, made no apologies for who he was or for his choice of life-style. He was who he was and he actually did what he wanted to do. He didnâ??t pass judgment on others and if he liked you, he`d do anything for you. Kelly will be sadly missed by special friend/spouse, Vera Hagen, daughter Shannon Shreenan (Jordan Penson), sister Kim (Buddy) Toutant, brother Lorrie Shreenan (Cheryl), brother Todd Shreenan (Brenda), Vera`s sons Shawn, grandsons Troy Pulver (Kim) their son Xander Pulver, grandson Troy Bisbing, and Gilbert(Terry) and their daughter Storm, niece Jody (Carson)Chrenek and children Ben & Colin, niece Danielle (Steve) Jonzon and children Jayden and Mariah as well as Auntie Shirley, cousins and numerous friends who were, to Kelly, also family. Kelly was predeceased by his father, Rodney in 1986 and his dearly beloved mother, Eunice in 2011 as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. A viewing will be held on June 1, 2015 between 7 and 8 p.m. at Oliver`s Chapel in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Hythe Legion Hall No. 93, followed by the burial at Valhalla Cemetery.
