Obituary For Keith Philip Sefton

Keith Philip Sefton, resident of Clairmont, AB, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 91 years.

Keith was born in Didsbury, AB, and was raised on the family farm near Crossfield alongside his parents, George (Geordie) and Marguerite Sefton, and his siblings.

On December 6, 1957, Keith married Joyce (née Cameron). They began their family in Didsbury. Their eldest son, Terry, was born in Didsbury in 1959.

Keith began his career before marrying Joyce, assembling and building tractors for Cockshutt Farm Equipment. He later worked in British Columbia in the logging industry and on drilling rigs before entering the trucking industry while living in Crossfield. During his career, he earned his journeyman tickets in welding and mechanics, skills that served him well throughout his working life. Alongside his older brother, Glen, he operated a trucking business before moving with Joyce and Terry to the Grande Prairie area. There, they continued in the trucking business, with Joyce managing the books. Their family later grew by two with the births of their daughter, Cheryl, and youngest son, Kenny.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Keith possessed a remarkable talent for mechanics, welding, carpentry, trucking, farming, and grain milling, which he did for several families around the Peace Country. Whether fixing equipment, building something with his hands, or lending a helping hand to a neighbour, Keith was known for his ingenuity, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. The skills he learned growing up on the farm served him well and shaped the man he became.

In 1965, the family settled in Clairmont, Alberta, where Keith would spend the remainder of his life. There, Keith and Joyce established the family business, Keith's Small Engine Repair, which became well known throughout the area.

Keith enjoyed horse and chariot racing and had a passion for supporting local sports. Whether participating himself or sponsoring others, he was involved in Skidoo racing, baseball, curling, and golf. He also loved riding motorcycles, visiting with family and friends, and sharing stories from a life well lived. Family was always important to him, and some of his greatest joys came from time spent with those he loved.

Keith was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; his sons, Terry and Kenny; his parents, Geordie and Marguerite Sefton; his brothers, Billy, Glen, and Norman; his father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Grace; and his brothers-in-law, Graham and Billy.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Cheryl (Victor); his sisters, Joanne and Janice (Reo); his sister-in-law, Shirley; as well as numerous nephews, great-nephews, and nieces, as well as a great-great-niece

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and support. They also wish to thank their family, friends, neighbours, customers, and community members for their kindness throughout the years.

As per Keith's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
