Obituary For Katherine Mae Beamish
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine Mae Beamish, 76, of Clairmont, Alberta, on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Kathy passed away, leaving behind a legacy rooted in the things she loved most: tending her garden, exploring new places, immersing herself in nature, and getting lost in a good book. She carried herself with a quiet elegance, always classy and dignified, and had an unapologetic spirit that had a way of making the world feel a little bit more peaceful.
She was born in Berwyn, Alberta, in 1949 to Mae and Donald McDermott, who welcomed her as their firstborn child. Many of her early years were spent helping care for her six siblings and tending to duties on the family farm. She married her first husband, Jim Morris, on November 6, 1965, and welcomed their first child, Annette, on August 7, 1965. On July 15, 1971, James joined the family.
Kathy went on to marry Harold Beamish on April 21, 1984. The family grew with the addition of her stepsons, Troy and Brent Beamish. Their marriage of 41 years led them on many adventures across the world. Together, they treasured time with their grandchildren and great-grandchild, especially during camping trips and family dinners.
Her love of jewelry brought her into her career of 11 years at Ben Moss Jewellers, where many of her paycheques were spent. Lifelong friends Pam and Louise were included in her fond memories of that chapter of her life.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Mae and Donald McDermott; her stepson, Troy Beamish; her grandson, Troy Jr. Beamish; her sister, Doreen Bloomfield; her brother, Doug McDermott; her niece, Brandy McDermott; and her nephew, Kenny Morrow.
She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Harold Beamish; her children, Annette (Dan) Preuss and James (Kristi) Morris; her stepson, Brent (Laura) Beamish; her grandchildren, Tanner (Kaitie), Dan Jr. (Supannee), Brieanna (Jesse), Evan, Cassidy, and Cooper; her great-grandson, Felix; as well as her siblings, Judy (Rick) Morrow, Richard McDermott, Verna Williscroft, and Gwen (Bob) Tindall; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at a later date.
