Obituary For Josiah Robert Finke

It is with eternal joy and deep sadness to announce Josiah Robert Finke, 27, of Southport, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, after a brief battle with brain cancer.

Josiah was born on August 12th, 1998, to Scott and Susan Finke, in Fort St. John, BC. He will be missed by many, including his wife, Caitlyn; sons Simon and Everett; his brother, Justin Finke (Katrina Finke); and sister, Katherine Peachey (Caleb Peachey). Josiah will also be missed by his nephews: Scott, Colin, Derek, Leo, Henri, and Arian; and his nieces: Grace, Melissa, and Jessa, all of whom he loved very dearly.

Josiah can be remembered for his big smile, his sweet sense of humour, and his willingness to help wherever needed. He had a big love for biking, the outdoors, for learning new things and challenging himself. He was a talented guitarist, and loved to serve the church by leading in song. Josiah had fond childhood memories of camping out in their old family bus, visiting the local hospital and leading the residents in song, and of building their family home.

He came to know Jesus at the young age of 4, and served Him faithfully since. His relationship with Jesus was pivotal to who he was, and shaped him to be the amazing man he became. His faith led him to serve at David Thompson Bible Camp for many years. He loved cabin leading and told many stories of his campers, who held a special place in his heart. He then moved on to Peace River Bible Institute in 2016 and completed his Bachelor of Biblical Studies. It was there that he met his two best friends, Jed and Jacob, along with many more who encouraged him and challenged him in his walk with the Lord.

It was also at PRBI that he met Caitlyn. They quickly became inseparable and married in August of 2020. After a couple years living in Sexsmith, AB, where Josiah worked as a labourer at various jobs, they took a leap of faith and moved to Winkler Bible Camp in November 2022. It was there that they welcomed their first son, Simon Lindsay Finke, and where Josiah took on a maintenance role, as well as helping in their leadership development program. After a couple years they moved on to Southport, MB, where Josiah worked as a ground handler at KF Aerospace, and where they welcomed their second son, Everett Fisher Finke. Josiah loved his boys with his whole heart, and his presence has been and will be dearly missed.

The Celebration of Life Service for Josiah was held at Winkler Bible Camp (16037 MB Hwy #3, Winkler, MB) on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will also take place in Grande Prairie, AB, at the Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St) on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Caitlyn and their sons as they adjust to life without Josiah. Please select the following link to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/josiah-finke.
