Obituary For Joshua Terrence Vigen

Josh Vigen, resident of Vancouver, B.C., formerly of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in Vancouver, at the age of 42 years.

Josh was born on November 6, 1979, in Grande Prairie, where he was also raised. From a young age he loved to play hockey, and had a great love for all sports that continued throughout his life. Josh was infatuated with the city life and anxiously moved to Edmonton, AB, to attend college. From there, he moved to Calgary, AB, before settling in Vancouver.

Josh was a sensitive, loving, and caring soul. He was very intelligent and loved to banter with all about politics. Josh loved dogs, especially Chihuahuas. He had a few over the years, and they were his great buddies.

He was treasured by his many friends and family, and we will miss him tremendously.

Josh will be sadly missed by his mother Shelly; brother Matt (Andrea); sister Abbey (Brad) Gavin; nephews: Caleb, Shea, Tristan, Carter, and Chase; as well as niece Charlotte. Josh also leaves to mourn numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Josh was predeceased by his father Terry; paternal grandparents Ralph and Dolores; maternal grandparents Keith and Louise; as well as nephew Ethan.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 3:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

It's been awhile since you've passed. Glad we got back in touch before your untimely passing. We had so many laughs together over the years. The greatest parts of my life are those childhood years spent with you guys. Family softball, hockey, baseball, rodeos and just clowning around. Forever your cousin and friend. Miss you buddy!! Ryan

Josh really was such a wonderful person. When we used to work the downtown watch repair counter together, we would often exchange stories about the most random things, and shared a laugh over the most ridiculous customers that we ever crossed paths with. Even when I left the watch repair company, he and I remained friends and occasionally invited me to join him and the other techs to catch up and just enjoy a good meal together. I wished we had more time with Josh; I'm really going to miss him. I sincerely wish my condolences to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

I was fortunate to work beside Josh at the Bay weekly. I'm a watch rep and my brands surrounded his desk area so we chatted all the time, He sometimes shared his Hi-Chew candies with me and if I caught him drinking energy drinks, I'd tell him he was going to get too hyper from all the caffeine. Lol. We'd share stories about our dogs and how they kept us up at night. We'd also laugh about the ridiculous things our dogs did. He also was a good listener when I told him my teens were a challenge and he was sympathetic when they were going through tough times at school or mental health issues. I'm really going to miss his presence while we worked together. I'll miss our weekly chats and his sweet, quiet demeanour. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will never be forgotten. He was special.
