Obituary For Josephine "Josie" Cuthill
It is with deep sadness that the family of Josephine “Josie” Cuthill announces her passing on December 10, 2025, at the remarkable age of 83 years. Her memory will be cherished.
Josie was born in Hull, England, to Sarah and Joseph Anderson and was the youngest of three children. She spent her formative years in Hull, where she attended college and earned a nursing degree. It was during this time that she met and married her loving husband, Edward. In time they would start a family of three girls.
In the early 1970s, they made the courageous decision to move from England to Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada. Their adventurous spirits brought them to various parts of northern Canada, eventually leading them to settle in Grande Prairie, AB.
After her move to Canada, she devoted a great deal of time to volunteering and charitable work. She was well known at the hospital for her service, and her contributions continued to be recognized long after she stopped actively volunteering.
Though Josie was quiet and unassuming, she made a lasting impression on those around her. She was known for her mischievous sense of humor, love of mystery stories, and musicals. Her enthusiasm for Doctor Who was shared with her children and grandchildren. Josie’s strong faith was a source of comfort and resilience during challenging times, and it inspired her unwavering support for others.
Josie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ed, and daughters Rose (Richard) and Pat. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ryan (Kristal), Semantha, Kim (Brett), Jayden, Carmen, Liz, Taya, Jade, and William, and great-grandchildren Ela, Deidra, Judah, Anthony, Kieran, Addy, Tiberius, Silas, Brittany, Everleigh, and Ophelia.
Josie was predeceased by her parents, Sarah and Joseph; daughter Veronica; and grandsons Joseph and Dillon.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joe’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a small luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Plan International Canada (https://plancanada.ca/en-ca/donate) in Josie’s memory.
