Obituary For Joseph Steven Arthur Douglas
Steve Douglas, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Grande Prairie at the age of 80 years. He was a husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandpa.
Steve was born on January 20, 1945, in Montreal, QC, to Neiges and Art Douglas. When he was a child, they headed west to Brandon, MB, where he was raised and received his education. He began working as a helper on the Coca-Cola trucks and eventually moved to Calgary, AB. This is where Steve met and married his wife, Jean, in 1971. They had two children, Karen and Kevin. During this time, Steve worked for Coca-Cola as a delivery truck driver. The family stayed in Calgary for a few more years and then in 1978, ventured even farther west to Vernon, BC. Steve remained on the Coke truck for two more years, until he was offered a sales position and moved to Penticton, BC. He was a “Coke” man through and through.
During his time in the Okanagan, he greatly enjoyed golfing and bowling on two league teams. The family enjoyed all the sunshine and beaches. In 2000, Steve and his family moved to Grande Prairie, as Jean wanted to be closer to her family. Steve started working at Sears, and later, as a driver for Dad’s Delivery and retired in 2010.
He will be sadly missed by Jean, his wife of 54 years; children Karen Douglas and Kevin (Hema) Douglas; grandchildren Desmond, Kiela, and Rowan (Melissa); and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Neiges and Art Douglas; sisters Edie Douglas and Carol (Barry) Roberts; and nephews Darwyn and Robbie Roberts.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. Interment will be held in the summer of 2026.
