John Duma, resident of Calgary, AB, formerly of Grande Prairie,AB, passed away suddenly from an undiagnosed illness of Coronary Heart Disease on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his home in Calgary, at the age of 55 years.

John was born on August 30, 1966, in Grande Prairie where he lived for 34 years. He then moved to Calgary where he spent his remaining years. Here he made many friends and loved the big city. He was the only brother to three sisters; whom he liked to treat as little brothers when he was a young boy. Despite having only sisters, he still used them as his wrestling partners while watching Stampede Wrestling. He gave out those back breakers like a champ.

John was always such a fun guy. He was always so happy and nothing could bring him down. Everyone loved being around him because he always wanted to make you smile or laugh. He was definitely one of a kind. John was such a kind soul, generous, smart, personable, outgoing, friendly, very funny with an infectious belly laugh, and a genuine smile that would light up a room. He was somebody you could always count on to help you out. They broke the mould when they made John.

He loved music and music trivia, movies, swimming, golfing, reading, and watching his favorite hockey and football teams. On most days, you could find John at the local public library as he was an avid reader on all sorts of themes, especially history. He loved to support the library as he wasn't a big fan of technology. He felt picking up a phone and calling someone trumped texting/emailing. At the end of his calls, he always said "Well, it sure was good talking to you and hearing your voice."

John never married nor had children. He had 2 nephews Rod & Reid, and 1 niece Madan. His new found love was his 6 year old niece Madan. They were 2 peas in a pod who always shared long talks on the phone with many good laughs. They're last adventure together was this last July when she came to visit him. They had such a great time together at the Stampede, Calaway Park and they're usual pit stop at the Calgary Zoo. He talked about this trip to everyone who would listen.

John will be sadly missed by his three sisters: Bonnie (Lonnie) Whittaker, Debbie (Troy) Heath, and Gail Duma; step-sister Suzanne Duma; niece Madan Heath; as well as nephews Rod and Reid Whittaker. John was well-loved by many and will be greatly missed.

John was predeceased by his parents Bill and Mary Duma.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 1:00pm, at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112 St).
