Obituary For John Light
John F. â??Jackâ?? Light passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015, in his 92nd year. He was the eldest son of Hythe Pioneers Jack Sr. and Iva Light.
Jack served proudly in the Canadian Army for four years, and was overseas during the Second World War. He landed in France on D-Day.
Jack was an active member and volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion throughout his life and was a leader and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of Canada in Grande Prairie and Fort St. John during the 1950â??s and â??60â??s.
He worked at Canadian Utilities early on, but was self-employed (with Doris) for most of his working life in Fort St. John where they raised their family. In 1993, Jack retired to Hythe, where he spent his childhood and youth.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Doris (nee Gillard), his children Murray (Marilyn), Maureen (Garry), Erin (John) and Bonnie (Bob); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his younger brother Bob.
Jack will be missed by his family.
He was predeceased by his two sons Johnny and Duncan, and his youngest brother Bud.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Hythe Legion.
