Obituary For John Ray Kasprow

We are sad to announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of John Kasprow (aka Johnny or Hatch) at his home in Wanham, AB on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the age of 67 years.

John was born in Spirit River, AB on June 2, 1956 and spent the majority of his life in Wanham, AB.

Most of John’s work life found him either in the oil patch or farming with his father John Sr. and brother Randy (both predeceased).

John met his former wife Julie at the Wanham Plowing Match. Together they had two children, AJ in 1988 and Anna in 1994. John also became a beloved grandpa to Myah (Anna’s daughter) in 2016. Although John and Julie parted ways they remained friends until his passing.

John had a notably loud laugh and could be quite competitive at times. He especially enjoyed playing baseball and hockey on the Wanham teams as well as camping, fishing trips with his family and playing cards. He valued his friends, his neighbours (especially those who looked out for him) alongside all with whom he shared coffee and good conversation.

John is survived by his mother Elly; sisters Ruth (David) and Debbie (Earl); close friend Julie; children AJ and Anna (Anthony); granddaughter Myah; and loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

We will miss and remember you fondly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 2 at 1:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave.) Grande Prairie, AB.
