Obituary For John Glodek

John (Jan) Glodek, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 86, in hospice, surrounded by his family.

John was born on March 1, 1939, in Rozonik, Poland, where his early life was shaped by resilience, hard work, and strong family values. In 1971, he made the courageous journey to Canada with his wife, Lucy, and their five children. The family settled in Grande Prairie, AB, where his children would later start families of their own.

John found joy in the simple, meaningful things. He especially enjoyed tending to his garden with his daughter Anne, spending time outdoors, and caring for what he grew. He was steady and dependable, deeply proud of the family he built. His presence was constant, and his love unwavering. Those who knew him will fondly remember his strong handshake, always firm and unmistakably his.

John will be deeply missed by his daughter, Anne Roulston; his sons, John, Stan, and Edward; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy in his life.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucy; his son Casey; his son-in-law Barry; his nephew Derek; and his parents, Jan and Anne, along with many cherished family members and friends in Canada and Poland who went before him.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (10404 102 Street, Grande Prairie), with a brief viewing prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Avenue and 112 Street). Following the interment, family and friends are warmly invited to return to the church for a luncheon in John’s memory.
