Obituary For John Clifford Dennis

John Clifford Dennis, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sexsmith, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 87 years.

John was born on April 6, 1937, in Bentley, AB. He moved to Fort St. John, BC at the age of 19. He worked in construction for 15 years until he decided to build a ranch out of un-surveyed bush in a beautiful valley north of Wonowon, BC. On this ranch, he and Mimmi raised beef cattle. John also operated gas wells in the area. They sold this ranch in 1996 and moved to Spirit River, AB where he continued to ranch for four more years. He retired in Sexsmith in 2000. The last year of his life was spent with Mimmi in a retirement community in Grande Prairie.

John was a family man. He treasured his children and grandchildren who fondly referred to him as “Bumba”. After retirement from ranching, John excelled at woodworking and attended many craft sales and markets to sell his creations.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years Mimmi; children Derek (Shelly) and Kodi (Jason); brother Durwill (Wanda) Dennis; and grandchildren Keyana, Quintara, Jordan, and Ryder.

John was predeceased by his father Lorimer; mother Lyla; sisters Anne, Faye and Dallas; nephew Michael; and niece Maxine.

Memorial donations may be made to Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society (https://gpcare.ca/volunteer-or-donate/donations/).
