We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Jocelyn Gaye Pugh-Runzer
Feb 8, 1963 (Edmonton)
July 23, 2026 (Grande Prairie)
Mom, wife (best friend), friend to many, teacher, quilter, cat lover extraordinaire.
Jocelyn loved her family dearly:
*Daughter Celyne Runzer (Amanda White)
*Son Haydyn Runzer (Brina Wengberg)
Jocelyn was predeceased by sons Austyn and Sam.
Jocelyn and Troy were together for over 42 years (married for 41). She made it her mission to give her children the safe and loving home life that she herself never had.
Jocelyn was an incredibly resilient person who persevered through many serious health issues. Through it all she resolved to live her life and do all of the things that she loved.
*She never met a cat who she didn’t fall instantly in love with.
*She was very proud of becoming a teacher late in life. She loved her students, and she celebrated their successes (academically or personally).
*Jocelyn was a passionate participant in life. She loved travel, gardening, quilting, Sudoku, puzzles, games, and “Jeopardy.”
*She was one of the kindest, gentlest people you could imagine. Her smile and laughter (snort included) would light up a room.
Jocelyn will be dearly missed— “Death ends a life, not a relationship” (Morrie Schwartz).
A memorial will be planned for early October, 2026.
Memorial donations may be made to a local humane society of choice.

I will miss Jocelyn's infectious laugh and her stories of growing up. We met through school when Jocelyn would occasionally substitute teach. We bonded through quilting and our weird sense of humor. I will miss you, rest easy.

Troy, Celyne and Hayden; there was never a time that I saw Jocelyn, when she was visiting or teaching @ EWP, that she wasn't sincere, kind and thoughtful in her discussion or acknowledgement. She was that person who stood out for those gifts. I'm so sorry for your loss but grateful for the warm memories she leaves.

Troy, Celyne, Hayden, There are no words for the sorrow you feel. I am just so happy Jocelyn had your love and support Troy. The true happiness of you Celyne and Haydyn. There is absolutely nothing more important she did than bring so much love into your lives. Jocelyn has been my friend from the start. I do not recall a time she was not there. It never mattered if we were away from each other a week, a day, or a year. We just fell right back into the rhythm of being each other's Friend. The talks, laughter, and friendship just never ended. Thank you Jocelyn. Still have your smiles and your wonderful memories to cherish. Xoxo Marlene
