To Murray & family ~ We really enjoyed getting to know your mother during our Meals on Wheels tour during the past 2 years. We always looked forward to having a wee chat with her every week! Jean always had an interesting anecdote to share with us! We were so looking forward to reconnecting with her next month, when we start up our 6 month round of Meals on Wheels again....so needless to say, were very taken aback upon learning of Jean's recent passing. We are very sorry for your loss! You've lost someone very special & it's going to take time to ease the sorrow you're feeling during this very difficult time. May your loving memories of all the special times you shared with Jean bring you comfort & peace. Please know that you are in our heartfelt thoughts as we share in your sadness..... Carman & Doug Scherlie

Aunt Jean. So sorry to hear you have gone to see Uncle Bazil. Because we live far apart we did not get to spend much time together but loved every minute that we had when you came to visit Grandma Bird. RIP. Love Bonnie Jean.

Jean's family: A visit with Jean was pure gift! She lived gratitude. I loved her stories. My favourite was the response of her mother after a hail storm destroyed their crop. "We've got ice. Bring out the ice cream maker." And I was so very proud of her when she headed off to Australia, all by herself, at around 80 years of age. It was her dream and she was going to DO it! Yes! A grateful friend, Janice Orr

Jean and Bazel were wonderful neighbours. They often invited Derek and I in for coffee and a visit when we lived in the crescent. Jean loved to show us her flowers and backyard. Sending our condolences, Joyce & Derek Lawrance

Mrs. Driver was my grade 2 teacher and I remember her fondly. She roomed and boarded with my folks, Stan & Bernadette Mitchell, in Spirit River and I believe that they stood up for her and Bazel when they were married. I remember visiting them near Hines Creek many years ago. My wife, Joyce, and I reunited with Jean again through Alberta Council on Ageing where Jean was an active member. Most recently we have delivered Meals on Wheels to Jean and she remembers! I will miss going into the cul de sac on 111 Ave. Joyce remembers her coming to the CWL Christmas Bazaar with a cast on her arm as she had fallen off her ladder while cleaning her eavestrough! She was a very loving and lovely person.
