Obituary For Jason Wesley Speed

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jason Speed announces his passing on Friday, September 12, 2025, far too soon at the age of 53 years.

Jason was born in Leduc, AB, on April 16, 1972. He completed his education in Grande Prairie and went on to attend college, earning his journeyman certification in landscaping with a specialization in pruning. Jason began his career with Greenblade, eventually becoming a part-owner before pursuing his dream of entrepreneurship. He founded and operated his own business, Tree Works, which he proudly ran until his passing.

Jason had a lifelong love for bowling, hockey, and proudly cheering for the Edmonton Oilers, as well as cycling and football, and faithfully supporting the Chicago Bears.

Jason was extraordinary. He was a loyal man, an incredible father, son, brother, and friend. His love, kindness, and laughter brought joy and touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Those who knew Jason will remember his generous spirit, quick wit, and the way he could make anyone feel valued. He lived with a purpose and left a lasting impression on all those around him.

His greatest joy in life was his family. He will be forever remembered as a devoted and proud father who gave his children unwavering love, guidance, and encouragement.

Though his time with us was far too short, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Sebastian, Landon, Stephen, and Lincoln; his parents, Gene and Helen; his brother Daniel; his grandmother Dorothy; and his trusted friend and confidant Nikki.

Jason was predeceased by his grandparents, Alma and Ernest, his aunt Jackie and cousin Donlea, and Robert and Rosemarie.

A memorial service for Jason will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Christ Community Church (10106 112 Ave.) in Grande Prairie.

A memorial donation in Jason’s memory can be made to Nicole Sedore (e-transfer nsedore21@gmail.com ). The funds will be used to help support the local Grande Prairie AA groups.
