We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For James Albert Walker

James Albert Walker, a resident of the County of Grande Prairie, Alberta, formerly of Valleyview, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Prairie Lake Hospice at the age of 84 years.

Born on December 15, 1941, in Vegreville, Alberta, Jim was raised on a farm in Viking, Alberta. He spent his early working years traveling throughout Alberta with a survey company before embarking on a new and meaningful career with Waterworks. This path eventually brought him to Valleyview, where he worked for Pembina Resources in pipeline maintenance until his retirement. It was there that Jim met Sarah Keillar. They were married and together welcomed their son, Robert Walker.

Jim found joy in life’s quieter pleasures. He loved spending time on the golf course and curling rink, tending to his garden, and woodworking.

Jim will be deeply missed by his son, Robert Walker (Stephanie Evans); his sisters, Penny Miskew (Kevin Vibert) and Sharon Giebelhouse and family; his nephew, Dean Walker (Fran); and his niece, Gaylene Walker.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah “Sadie” Walker; his parents, Lyllia Cwihula (Cook) and Albert Walker; his stepfather, John Cwihula; his stepmother, Rae Walker; his brother, Ralph Walker; and his nephew, Trent Walker.

In respect of Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
