Obituary For Jacques (Jack) Joseph Come Claude Lafleur
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacques Lafleur of Grande Prairie, AB. Jacques passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by his family.
Jacques was born in Ontario on June 4, 1943. He was the sixth of fifteen children born to Angeline and Leopold Lafleur. As an infant, Jacques moved with his family to Guy, AB, and was raised there. Jacques met the love of his life, Pauline, in 1964, and they were married in November 1967. They lived in California, where Jacques worked as a beekeeper before moving to Grande Prairie, AB, in 1969, where they raised their four daughters. Jacques completed his Journeyman Carpentry Certificate at NAIT in 1973, after which he worked primarily as a custom home builder in Grande Prairie until his retirement in 2012.
Jacques’ life was a testament to kindness, love, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. At 82 years old, he leaves behind a legacy defined not by years alone, but by the countless lives he touched with his warmth and lighthearted love for life. He was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful moments—sharing a meal, offering a helping hand without hesitation, and making everyone feel loved and valued. His loving personality was a steady light in the lives of those who knew him, and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Family was at the center of his world. He cherished every gathering and every moment made together. Jacques carried a spark that uplifted others. His laughter was contagious, his smile unforgettable, and his spirit one that encouraged others to embrace life fully and joyfully.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the kindness he showed, the love he gave so freely, and the joy he brought into the world. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 58 years, Pauline; his four daughters, Nicole Lafleur Verge (Lee), Suzanne Lafleur, Mona LaBelle, and Christine Kremp (Jason); as well as his grandchildren and their families. Nicole and Lee’s family: Colton (Kelsey) and children, Greyson, Kennedy and Morgan; Kaitlynn (Zack) and children, Isaac, Scarlett and Aria; Kiara; Kenzie; Kaylyn (Luke) and daughter Rylie; Ethan (Sam) and daughter Maeve; and Mason. Suzanne’s family: Britani (Sarah) and son Oliver; Kasidy; Jacques Taiber (Milliana) and son Felix; and Tiernan. Mona’s children: Natalie, Declan and Alexa; and Christine and Jason’s children: Kaleb and Quinton.
A private celebration of life was held on Monday, April 6, 2026, and the graveside service will be held at a later date.

I have wonderful memories of Jacques. Four of his grandchildren are also my grandchildren ! In 2000 he and my wife spent several evenings designing and blueprinting a custom home for our lot on Vancouver Island. A man with quick wit, a sharp mind and genuine love for friends, family and those who crossed his threshold. A life well lived.

My deepest condolences on the loss of such a great man. He helped me build my house back in 1988 and I'm still in the same home we built together. His professional work is still appreciated to this day. He made the building process for Monica and I so easy and his sense of humor while working together made it such a fun process. He will be sadly missed.
