We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Ira Clarence Patrick Manichoose

With heavy hearts, the family of Ira Clarence Patrick Manichoose announces his passing on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the age of 26.

Ira was a proud member of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and carried himself with strength, courage, and determination. He worked as a slasher and faller in wildfire firefighting, as well as a utility tree worker. These professions reflected his bravery and resilience.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Florence and Clarence; his daughter, Louisanne; his ex-wife, Savannah; his brothers, Isaiah and Trevyn; and his sisters, Clarisse, Patrice, and Cecilia. He was predeceased by his sister, Cassandra, and is now reunited with his baby boy, Kaw-Liga.

Ira will be remembered for his big heart, his genuine and compassionate nature, and the quiet strength he carried within. He was creative and imaginative, especially when it came to Halloween, a time he looked forward to each year. He took pride in designing detailed costumes inspired by characters and films such as Predator, Jason, Michael Myers, Texas Chainsaw, Jeepers Creepers, and The Babadook. Ira also had a playful love for wrestling and enjoyed his wrestling figures, a reflection of the youthful spirit he carried throughout his life.

Christmas was another time he truly looked forward to, when Ira loved showering those he cared about with gifts. He proudly took on the important role of Santa at community functions, alongside his partner in crime, Clarisse, who played The Grinch. Ira brought laughter and excitement to all around him.

He cherished time spent with friends and family, bringing energy, humor, and charm wherever he went. His fearless personality often showed itself in playful wrestling matches and memorable moments, including crashing through tables in good fun and even breaking a bone or two. Ira lived boldly and wholeheartedly, leaving lasting memories with all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A wake will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Community Hall, with the funeral service to follow on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will be held at Sturgeon Heights Cemetery, after which friends are invited to join the family back at the hall for a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/) or Tiny Hands of Hope (e-transfer: tinyhandsofhope@gmail.com).
