Obituary For Helen Hotchkiss Cosens

Helen Hotchkiss Cosens, resident of Sexsmith, AB, formerly of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 56 years.

Helen was born October 20, 1966, in Dawson Creek where she was raised. She was employed at Save-On-Foods and previously employed with Weyerhaeuser.

In her free time, she really enjoyed gardening, going on road trips to visit her friends and family, and campfires. She was private but particular, well-dressed, and organized. Anyone that knew Helen loved her. She was a kind-hearted, loving, tough lady.

Greg will remember her last words forever. She did not want to play anymore. She accepted what she was dealing with.

Helen will be missed by her common-law and friend Greg Spitzke, his daughters and grandkids; brothers Terry, Ted, and Jim; sister Margaret; sisters-in-law Bev and Marie; cats Shadow and Spook; dog Saddie; and all her friends and family.

She was predeceased by her brother Lincoln, her mother and father as well as her dogs Zip and Kingston.

My sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Greg and Helen's family. I was shocked and saddened to hear Helen had passed away. She was "one in a million". I worked with her at Save On where we became friends as well as co-workers. We shared the same October 20th. Birthday which was special even though I am much older. I always enjoyed seeing and visiting with her when I was home after moving away. We always talked about what each were planting in our gardens; that is especially sad now at this time of year. May you Rest In Peace Helen. Loved you.

My heart broke when I read that Helen died, and my wife felt likewise. We knew her through Save-on- Foods where she actually made grocery shopping a joy. She and I always shared a laugh. I would regale her with tales from my classroom. Though I never saw her elsewhere, I considered her a friend. I know others valued her as I did and we would wait in line at her checkout just to talk to her. A bright light has gone from the world. May she rest in peace. My wife and I send condolences to all who loved her. Allan Forsberg and Mindy Dorn
