Obituary For Harry Alexander Patrick

Harry Patrick, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, with his children by his side, in the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 89 years.

Harry was born in Grande Prairie on July 28, 1937, the third of five children to Don and Mollie Patrick. Harry lived most of his life on the family farm in the Wembley area until he retired to Grande Prairie in 2004.

Harry loved the land and the community he was raised in. He went to school at Bighorn, La Glace, and then Wembley in Grade 12. While attending school, he enjoyed playing sports, especially hockey and baseball.

Harry met Anne Lichtner in his early twenties, and they were married on December 28, 1960. Harry and Anne raised their four children, Roxanne, Blaine, Sean, and Evan on the family farm. They also spent some years living in Grande Prairie.

Harry was a grain farmer and spent several winters hauling logs for Cutbank Trucking. For a few years, he worked at the Grande Prairie Airport as a firefighter and took care of snow plowing the runways.

He loved animals, particularly horses. In the winter, Dad enjoyed giving us rides in his horse-drawn sleigh. He was very talented at drawing farm animals and liked to color, do puzzles, and play games. Crokinole was a favourite of Dad’s, and he sure loved to beat us at a game of it!

He didn’t like discussing anything too serious, instead preferring to hear funny stories or jokes. Dad had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh. He also had a sweet tooth, asking after every meal what was for dessert or if we had any cookies.

Dad enjoyed country music and going dancing. Every year when we were young, he looked forward to taking us to the County Fair. In later years, he enjoyed attending the Grande Prairie Stompede, where he always met many friends and neighbors.

Harry will be missed by his four children: Roxanne DeBlois (Lawrence), Blaine Patrick (Donna), Sean Patrick (Katrina), and Evan Patrick (Heather); his grandchildren: Patrick DeBlois (Michelle), Corey DeBlois (Caitlin), Keaton DeBlois (Amber), Chelsea Belcourt (Tayler), Derrick Moon (Dena), Broghan Patrick (Dustin), Austin Patrick, Riley Patrick, Kayley Patrick, Jasper Patrick, Jameson Patrick, Kacy Patrick, Harrison Patrick, and Ewan Patrick; and his great-grandchildren: Aster DeBlois, Avery DeBlois, Perri DeBlois, Elliotte DeBlois, Margot DeBlois, Jessie Belcourt, Skyler Belcourt, Oliver Moon, Raylan Moon, Leira Pascual, and Tala Pascual.

He is survived by his siblings, Pat Olson, Victor Patrick, and Muriel Garrett.

Harry was predeceased by his wife, Anne Patrick; his parents, Don and Mollie Patrick; his youngest brother, Jim Patrick; and his sister-in-law, Nita (Victor Patrick).

The family wishes to thank the staff at Prairie Lake and the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for the love and care that Dad received there.

As per Harry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
