We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Gregory Dennis Woods
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory (Greg) Dennis Woods on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the age of 57.
Born on May 20, 1969, Greg spent his childhood in Swan Hills, Alberta, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained an important part of his world. He later lived and worked in Edmonton, Bonnyville, and Grande Prairie, Alberta, where he built not only a successful career, but also countless lasting friendships.
Greg was a devoted son, a caring brother, and a loyal friend to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. His generosity, compassion, and willingness to help others were qualities that defined his character. Whether offering practical assistance, sharing his knowledge, or simply making someone laugh when they needed it most, Greg always put people first.
Greg dedicated more than three decades to EECOL Electric, beginning his career in Edmonton in the fall of 1992. Starting in the shipping department, his strong work ethic, determination, and exceptional product knowledge led him through positions in counter sales, the order desk, outside sales, and industrial sales. During his time in Bonnyville, he consistently earned annual Tankard Cup awards in recognition of his outstanding sales achievements. Later, Greg relocated to Grande Prairie, where he successfully managed the Weyerhaeuser GPOP project before continuing in industrial sales. He became highly respected by customers and colleagues alike, not only for his expertise but also because he treated everyone with honesty, kindness, and genuine friendship. To many, Greg was far more than a salesperson—he was someone they trusted and enjoyed seeing.
Outside of work, Greg embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved music, especially playing his guitar, and there was rarely a gathering where he wouldn't entertain family and friends with songs, often adding his own witty and unforgettable lyrics. He enjoyed golf, video games, camping, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers, and spending time outdoors. Greg had a remarkable sense of humour and an endless supply of one-liners that could brighten any room. Time spent with him was always filled with laughter, memorable stories, and the certainty that an adventure was never far away.
Greg also had a few endearing quirks that those closest to him will always remember with a smile. His uncanny ability to misplace his keys, wallet, or coat became part of the many stories shared among family and friends—stories that will continue to bring laughter for years to come.
More than anything, Greg will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. He had a gift for bringing people together and leaving every person he met feeling better for having known him. His friendships were genuine, his laughter infectious, and his presence unforgettable.
Greg is survived by many cherished personal and professional friends, along with family members who loved him deeply. His absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, humour, and friendship.
The world has lost a truly caring and remarkable man. Greg will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and generosity will never be forgotten, and those who loved him will carry his memory in their hearts every day.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared once available.
