We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Gordon "Gord" Ross Buechner

Gord Buechner, a resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the age of 67, surrounded by his immediate family and loved ones.

Born in Hythe, Alberta, Gord was raised in Grande Prairie by his parents alongside his five siblings. He went through the public school system in Grande Prairie, graduating from the Composite High School in 1977.

Gord was always the life of the party, known for his many friends, good jokes, and adventures. He married Lena in 1985 and proceeded to grow their family and their business, formerly G&L Heating and Cooling, now known as Indoor Elements Mechanical.

Gord was a wonderful man with a big heart, gone too soon. He loved nothing more than a good chat over coffee, reciting a well-timed joke, giving hugs, and spending time with his family, including days and nights out at the family cabin. He was a father and friend to many. Gord taught us all to be exactly who we want to be, to treat others how they would want and deserve to be treated, to love your people fiercely, and to always smile.

Gord will be missed by his wife, Lena; his children, Cory, Danielle, Kristy, and Kelly; his ten grandchildren; and all the people he loved so dearly.

A celebration of Gord’s life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Jackpot Grill in Grande Prairie (10904-92 Ave). We will gather for dinner and take time sharing memories of him. Please dress in comfy, cozy, everyday attire, because that was our Gord.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Kev’s Kids Society (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/kevs-kids-society/?utm_expid=.J).

Lena and family, I am so sorry for the loss of Gord. He was a wonderful man. He helped us immensely with mechanical services in our business. Even teaching us how to do some minor jobs, so we could do it ourselves! He earned our utmost respect, and we always trusted his work! He's gone far too soon. May he rest in peace. Carolyn Vasileiou
