Obituary For Gloria Joan Carlstad Sask

It is with great sadness that the family of Gloria Sask (nee Carlstad), longtime resident of Grande Prairie, AB, announces her passing on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the age of 64 years.

Gloria was born on July 9, 1956, to Ruth and Ordian Carlstad and raised on the family farm in Valhalla, AB. She attended Valhalla School, Hythe Junior High, and graduated from the Beaverlodge Regional High School.

Gloria worked at several businesses in Grande Prairie after graduating. She owned her own small vending machine business for nine years. Gloria always overcame her health issues and made everyone feel special. She was very reserved until she got to know you. Her infectious smile and laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. Gloria’s love for cats always had a special place in her heart.

Gloria married Joseph Sask in 1975. She is survived by her husband Joseph; son Wade of Grande Prairie; daughter Karri (Garry Fraser) of Grande Prairie; sister Carol (Carl Mayer); and nephew Michael (Erin) Mayer; sisters in-law Phyllis Yelenik, and Joan Sask; brothers in-law Ken (Maureen) Sask, Gerry (Pam) Sask, David (Bonnie) Sask, and Darcy (Barb) Sask; as well as many nieces and nephews from the Sask family.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents Ruth and Ordian Carlstad; niece Kelli Mayer; as well as many aunts and uncles of the Carlstad family and Peterson family; mother in-law Jean Sask and father in-law Bill Sask; brother in-law Harvey Sask; sister in-law Vivian Shyry; as well as many aunts, uncles in-law, nieces, and nephews from the very large Sask and Willard families. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11:00am, at Olivers Funeral home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). A Luncheon will be held following the Service in Oliver's Tea Room. A Interment will follow the Service and Luncheon at Lake Saskatoon Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in memory of Gloria Sask may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (12220 104 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8A8).

Our deepest condolences. I recall spending so many playdates at Gloria & Carolâ??s house, only 1/2 mile away, and always visiting with Auntie Ruth too. There was always something to do or talk about. Such fond memories. Later, if Gloria happened to accompany Joe to Edmonton, we would try to meet for lunch; I very much cherished those visits. Take care Joe, and Carol and families. From: Brenda & John
