Obituary For Glenn Arthur Kochendorfer

It is with immense sorrow we share the news of the passing of our family patriarch, Glenn Arthur Kochendorfer.

Glenn was born on June 20th, 1940, and passed away peacefully at home on his beloved farm on Sunday, May 12th, 2024, the morning after the spring seeding was finished. He was a lifelong resident of the Valhalla Centre area, and was an exceptional farmer and mentor to many.

Glenn and the love of his life, Eleanor (nee Cobb) recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. In addition to Eleanor, he is survived by his children: Larry (Cathy), Doug (Jolene), Joanne (Dave), Janice (Bill), and son in-law Terry Rycroft and their families. Also mourning his passing are his siblings: Robert (Judy), Sharon, Lois, and their families; sister in-law Florence and family, and Linda MacKay.

Glenn was predeceased by daughter Gayle, she and Terry’s infant son, Justin; parents Harriet and Roy; mother in-law and father in-law Helen and Larry Cobb; Tom Brown; sister in-law Evelyn and her husband Richard; brothers in-law Jim Allan and Jim Nichol; along with many close cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 20th, 2024, at 2:00pm, at the Valhalla Lutheran Church, followed by coffee in the Valhalla Community School gymnasium until 4:30pm. (9702 100 Ave).

Interment to follow at the Valhalla Cemetery for family members and funeral participants.

Please note that church seating will be limited to family members and funeral participants; therefore, the service will be livestreamed to the Valhalla School gymnasium, where additional guests will be welcomed. Please note the link will take you to Oliver's Funeral Home Facebook page as it will be Facebook live.

The family has requested that any donations made in Glenn’s honor are to be directed to Valhalla Lutheran Church, where Glenn was a longtime member, or the Hythe Food Bank, as a final gesture of his commitment to neighbors and community.

The family wish to thank Dr. Crowe for his many years of providing exceptional care to Glenn. We also wish to extend our appreciation to Roxanne Hemmingway of Respiratory Homecare Solutions Inc. for her genuine care, concern, and friendship.

As one of Glenn’s grandsons so aptly put it, “Grandpa K – He was the strongest man, but his biggest muscle was his heart.”

Praying for you all as you grieve for your husband Eleanor and for all of you kids as you say goodbye to your Dad today. I don't think I can get to the funeral today but know that I am holding you up in my prayers. My Dad used to comment on what an honorable guy Glenn was and his dry sense of humor. With heartfelt condolences, Lavonne Petkau (Janzen)

With deepest sympathy to you Eleanor, and to Doug, Larry, Joanne, Janice, Terry and your families. Praying for Gods grace and comfort to fill and strengthen you and, in due time, turn mourning into joy and tears into laughter. Glenn's faith in Jesus, his commitment to live life with conviction and finish the race in victory through our Savior is a legacy to be exemplified in you, his family, and that's an honour to be proud of. 1Corinthians 15:54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory". Daniel & Christine, Evan, Abigail, Sarah, Jude Loberg
