Glen Raymond Horseman, a resident of Horse Lake First Nation, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years.

Glen was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta, and raised in Horse Lake First Nation. He proudly served his community as Fire Chief of Horse Lake First Nation for approximately 20 years. He eventually retired due to problems with his knees, which had been affected by many years of playing baseball. Glen was also a naturally talented artist who had a gift for drawing, although he didn’t use his artistic abilities as often as he could have. That natural talent has carried on through his family, with some of his children and grandchildren sharing his artistic skills.

Glen was a proud and supportive father and grandfather who made an effort to honour his family’s special moments. He was overjoyed about his daughters earning their degrees; one earned her Bachelor of Nursing, and the other earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. He was also very proud of his grandchildren, including two who went on to earn degrees in teaching. He strived to be present for the important moments in their lives, attending weddings, graduations, birthdays, and other special occasions. Glen loved seeing his children and grandchildren succeed and was always there to show his love and support. After retiring, he often travelled to Grande Prairie, catching a ride with his brothers, Dean and Jim. There, he spent time visiting with his children and grandchildren. Family was very important to him.

Glen loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was passionate about going on quad rallies and spending time with family and friends. He was also partial to traditional foods, especially moose meat and dry meat. Baseball was a big part of his life when he was younger. Although he could no longer play as he got older, he continued to enjoy watching baseball as well as hockey.

Glen will be sadly missed by his children: Gwendolynn Robe-From, Tracy Horseman, Glenna Horseman, Lance Horseman, and Raven Badger; his grandchildren: Jarred Robe-From, Joshua Robe-From, Rachel Robe-From, Matthew Robe-From, Rebekah Robe-From, Naomi Robe-From, Mikaela Laboucan, Glendin Horseman, Billy Ferguson, Zac St-Cyr, Requel Horseman, Caidance Paul-Horseman, Blair Paul-Horseman, Milan Horseman, Symphony Medicine Shield, Poetry Horseman, Nico Horseman, and Sabrina Horseman; and his great-grandchildren: Noah McLean, Oaklyn Robe-From, Isaiah Robe-From, and Josie Robe-From.

Glen is also survived by his siblings, James Horseman, Dean Horseman, Beulah Horseman, and Charles Horseman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Christine Horseman; his father, Lee Laglace; his son, Glen Jr. Horseman; and his siblings, Howard Horseman, Delia Horseman, Lilian Savard, Kathaleen Horseman, Don Horseman, Verna Horseman, Ruth Gladue, Eileen Savard, and Audrey Pedersen.

The funeral and prayers service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Horse Lake First Nation Recreation Centre (Horse Lakes 152B, AB T0H 2C0), preceded by a viewing at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will take place at the Horse Lake Band Cemetery. Afterward, all are invited to return to the Horse Lake Recreation Centre for a luncheon.
