Obituary For George "Pat" Patrick Carrell

George Patrick “Pat” Carrell, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in Prairie Lakes Seniors Community in Grande Prairie, at the age of 99.

He was born on March 17, 1923, in the family home on the Beaverlodge River, ½ mile from the farm he purchased in 1946, where he spent most of his life.

From 1942 to 1944, he attended Olds Agriculture College and graduated as an Agriculture Technician. Many of the friends he gathered there, became friends he contacted and visited all of his life.

Pat not only farmed, but for many years in the 1950’s and 60’s he ran the Beaverlodge Dairy and delivered milk to the homes in the community. In later years he worked as an Agricultural Technician at the Research Station until his retirement in 1983.

Pat was a strong community supporter and was always available to lend a hand. He was active with the Boy Scouts, the Elks club, the Red Willow Camp, the Beaverlodge United Church, and the Beaverlodge Band, amongst many others.

Pat loved the great outdoors. He liked to work in the farm fields and be out with the cows, the horses, and his goats.

Pat loved music, and loved to play music. In his early years he was a member of the Beaverlodge Band and many dance orchestras. In latter years playing his mandolin and harmonicas.

He will be sadly missed by his older sister Iva; children: Beth, Joan, Judy, and Dick; the large extended family of in-laws, out-laws, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as friends that could be family that comes with a lifetime of 99 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor Patricia “Pat” in 1983; and his special friend Paula Limoges in 2016; as well as his son John Patrick Carrell “Jack” in 1991.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at the Beaverlodge United Church, 922 4 Ave, Beaverlodge, Alberta, T0H 0C0.

He always had a laugh, smile and a joke to share. He was always a joy to be around when I was growing up. I learned a lot from Pat. Kevin Lett
