Obituary For George Gerhard Tews

George Gerhard Tews, a long-time resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away suddenly at home, surrounded by his loving family, just as he wished, on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at 85 years.

George was born in Glentworth, SK, on January 12, 1936. He moved to Beaverlodge, at 6 years of age with his family, and made it his home. He met the love of his life, Tanyss Ray and they were married on November 21, 1966. They raised their family in Beaverlodge, and together owned Beaver General Store and Sporting Goods, until their retirement in 1997.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed many things including: hunting, fishing, river boating, dune buggying, wood working, and watching many hockey games. He loved his time with family and friends, and he instilled these pastimes in us all.

He is survived by his wife Tanyss; children: Tracy (Rick) Willey, Troy (Veronica) Tews, and Todd (Nicki) Tews; grandchildren: Alex, Emery, and Tommy Willey, Ty (Katie), Tory, and Tayah Tews, Brooklyn and Dayne Tews; brothers in-law: Griff, Larry, and Ronald (Doreen) Ray; sister in-law Alexis Grimson; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Wanda Tews; stepmother Emelia; siblings: Lydia (Bill) Schultz, Albert Tews, Rita (Ralph) Mickelson, and Wanda (Hank) Wieler; father in-law Alex Ray; mother in-law Thelma Ray; as well as brother in-law Ray Grimson.

A private service for his immediate family will be held as per his wishes.

“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.” -Maya Angelou
