Obituary For Gayle Clovis

Betty Gayle Clovis, resident of Wanham, formerly of Cecil Lake, BC, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Spirit River, AB at the age of 85 years.

Gayle was born in Fort St. John, BC on October 9, 1937. She was raised in Cecil Lake, where she also spent much of her adult life. Health issues moved her to Wanham for the last 3 years of her life.

She would often be heard telling others “Call me Gayle” anytime she was referred to as “Mrs. Clovis or Betty”. (She hated that name).

Gayle had an amazing garden. She liked to knit socks like crazy, and only left the farm when she had to.

She will be sadly missed by her siblings: Myrna Land, Karen Bahm, and Barb Scobie; children: Wanda (Bob) Johnson, Debbie (Rick) Wells, Teryl (Curt) Cantrill, Shirley (Gilbert) Krawece, and Lory (Wayne) Wells; grandchildren: Shawn, Darcy, Terylee, Brandy, Cora, Bradley, Brett, Andrew, and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Mikie, Devon, Hayden, Jasper, Austin, Jarvis, Rival, Manny, Torah, Axel, and Ainsley; Auntie Ruth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gayle was predeceased by her husband Marvin, infant son Darrel, parents Ray and Dorothy, sisters Bev and Trudy, grandchild Brady, and great-grandchild Peyton.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm, in Cecil Lake Hall (4864 Cecil Lake Rd.) Cecil Lake, BC. A potluck luncheon will follow.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House (7726-107 St. Edmonton, AB T6E 4K3, rmhcna.org).

I will always remember Aunt Gayle as the strongest, most fearless women. I was in awe of her and her ability to do anything! She also had the kindest heart, and seemed to know when I needed to be rescued from Uncle Marvin's teasing when I was a kid. She was so dear to me, and I will treasure my memories of my time spent with her and Uncle Marvin forever. Big hugs to all of her family and friends.
