Obituary For Gary Richard Dietzen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Richard Dietzen on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 70 years.

Gary was born on December 16, 1954, in Lethbridge, Alberta to Edward and Barbara Dietzen. In 1961, the Dietzen family relocated to the Whitemud area in Northern Alberta where they established the family farm. Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator for the family construction company for many years, along with working on the family farm.

On March 22nd, 1986, Gary and Ingrid celebrated the arrival of their daughter Celeste. Gary was a son, a brother, a father, an uncle and a friend. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and blues including Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Healey, and Fats Domino, and also enjoyed playing his Fender guitars. Gary was a live music enthusiast and enjoyed seeing many performers at the legendary Blues on Whyte.

Gary is survived by his beloved daughter Celeste Dietzen, brothers: Barry (Cindy) Dietzen, Leslie (Skye) Dietzen, Darcy Dietzen (Rhonda Jackson), and sister Karen (Frank) Yee, as well as many nieces and nephews and cherished friends Derek Dechief and Joyce Berling.

Gary is predeceased by parents Edward and Barbara Dietzen.

The immediate family will have a private Memorial Service. No public service will be held.

We would like to express our appreciation to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for the support and care that was provided to Gary and our family.
