Obituary For Florence “Flossy” Louise Goodswimmer
With heavy hearts, the family of Florence “Flossy” Louise Goodswimmer announces her passing on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Florence was a proud member of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, where she was raised and resided at the time of her passing. She carried her roots with pride and strength throughout her life, staying closely connected to her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Goodswimmer and Violet-Margaret Badger; her brother, Walter Goodswimmer; her beloved baby boy, Ira Manichoose; and her grandson, Kaw-Liga Manichoose.
Florence is lovingly remembered by her children, Patrice and Isaiah; her daughters-in-law, Savannah and Alexandra (“her fave”); and her granddaughter, Louisanne. She is also remembered by her brothers, Clyde, Floyd, Albert, Terry, and Brian (“Brother Bear”), and her sister, Jeanie (“one and only”). She leaves behind many extended family members, close friends, and those she considered family, including her lifelong brothers, Barry, Everett, and Ryan.
Florence began her career working in childcare, where her caring nature and patience had a lasting impact. She later transitioned into security work, where she worked concerts and road patrols, showing her strength, independence, and resilience.
She had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished time spent at the cabin and on the trapline. Florence loved being surrounded by her friends and family, sharing laughter, stories, and good times. She had a strong spirit and a warm presence that brought people together.
Florence will be remembered as a strong woman and a true fighter. Her strength was evident in every part of her life. She never gave up, no matter the challenges she faced, and she always did what she believed was best for her children. Her resilience, love, and dedication will continue to live on through all who knew her.
Viewing will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB (10005-107 Ave).
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Community Hall. Following the service, burial will take place at Sturgeon Heights Cemetery, after which friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon back at the hall.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
