We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Flora Doreen Williams

It is with sadness, yet in the comfort of faith, her family would like to share that in the early morning hours of Monday, May 18, 2026, Flora Doreen Williams passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord while her daughter held her hands and read the words of Psalm 23 at her bedside.

Doreen was born on November 9, 1942, in Grand Bank, Newfoundland, to Harvey and Winnie Keating. In April 1948, while getting ready for school, she heard on the radio of the loss at sea of her beloved father aboard the Administratrix, a tragedy that would shape much of her life.

In 1964 after graduating from the Grace School of Nursing in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Doreen married the love of her life, Gordon Williams. In the early 1970s, they moved to Calgary, AB.

Doreen and her husband Gordon attended West Hillhurst Gospel Hall in Calgary. Several years later, they returned to Newfoundland and worked with many other Gospel Halls in that province before relocating to Grande Prairie in 1998. Doreen made several trips with Gordon to support him in his gospel ministry, including trips to Ireland and Japan.

After Gordon’s death in 2018, Doreen moved to BC. Together they had built a loving family and shared nearly 54 years of marriage. Doreen was a devoted mother to Jill (Paul), Lyndon (Janice), and Patti (Kyle), and was deeply cherished by her 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Winnie Keating; her parents-in-law, John and Elizabeth Williams; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Fairfield; and her beloved husband, Gordon Williams.

A private family-only burial will be held in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Dufferin Care Centre in Coquitlam, British Columbia, for the compassion, love, and care they showed Doreen during her time there.
