Obituary For Fern Ilene Forbes Jones

Fern Ilene Jones, resident of Hythe, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in Beaverlodge, AB, at the age of 91 years.

Fern was born in Hythe in 1930 and was raised on the family farm. Her nickname was “Spitfire.”

She married Roger Jones on November 8, 1948. They had a dairy farm and grain farm. Fern and Roger had four sons: Rick, Lynn, Neil, and Harley. She and Roger were partners on the farm.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, playing piano, loved cats, enjoyed ceramics, volunteered a lot, and treasured family gatherings at her house.

Fern will be sadly missed by her children: Rick (Muriel), Lynn (Marilyn), Neil (Roxy), and Harley (Cathie); grandchildren: Linda Giebelhaus, Jennifer (Travis) Jassman, Murray (Heather) Jones, Erin (David) Donavan, Tina (Todd) Senenko, and Rod (Alison) Sudnik; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Roger Jones; parents Harold and Maitland Forbes; and sister Alice Bratt.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10:00am. A livestream will be available on Fern’s obituary on Oliver’s website.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hythe and District Pioneer Home Foundation (Box 388, Hythe, AB, T0H 2C0).
