Obituary For Faye Gwendolyn Kjemhus

Faye Kjemhus a resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Hythe, AB passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, with family by her side, at the age of 83 years.

Faye was born on February 9, 1941 in Grande Prairie, AB. She was raised in Hythe, AB where she attended school through Grade 12. She then went on to College in Grande Prairie and completed her Accounting Certificate.

Faye worked in the family business, a dress store (Lady Eve) and loved her cake-making business with her friend Brenda.

Faye was a very giving soul and was always there to help support her friends and family. Her table was always full and she enjoyed having others around. The love of grandchildren filled her heart.

Faye’s love of flowers and her garden was her joy and serenity. One would often find her immersed, poolside, in a good book. She was an amazing host and cook. She always had an open door for everyone. She loved to entertain, but when curling season began she wouldn’t miss a game.

Faye hosted many family events from reunions to baby showers, lobster nights, birthday celebrations, and of course limitless pool days that would give us all time for great visits where many memories were made. She never missed out on the kids' many activities and took great pride in having them by her side.

Faye will be sadly missed by her husband Harold; children: Michelann (Mike), and Jeff (Gabrielle); daughter-in-law Sherri; sister Eleanor Moodie; grandchildren: Tate, Drey, Riley, Avery, Elena, Brook, Piper and Madison; and great-grandchildren Sopia and Arianna.

Faye was predeceased by her son Dean Kjemhus; parents Allan and Myrtle Moodie; brother Jim Moodie; parents-in-law Nils and Joran Kjemhus; sisters-in-law: Thora Kjemhus, Nora Wallan, Grenda Napen and Bernice Napen; brothers-in-law: Finn and Ole Kjemhus and Les Wallan; nephews: Troy Kjemhus, Kevin Wallan, Allan, Dale and Randy Kjemhus; and best friends: Laila Houssian, Phyllis Ann Sandal and Alma Shaden.

A Viewing will be on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 7:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10007 107 Ave.) in Grande Prairie, AB. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00am at Oliver’s Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be after the luncheon for the family at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave. and 112 St.).

Condolences to the Kjemhus family and Eleanor Moodie. Faye and I were best friends in high school and grew up in the best of times. Went on to be roommates after college in Dawson Creek. Faye's family was most important to her and she was a great Mom. She will be missed.
