Obituary For Faye Ellen Young

Faye Young (nee Colvin), resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Wembley, AB, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 63 years.

Faye was born on July 25, 1958 in Coronach, SK, and grew up in Nokomis, SK. In December of 1976, Faye met Bruce, her first husband. Brandie was born in September of 1977 in Calgary where Faye was attending hairdressing school. She graduated on May 16, 1978. Faye & Bruce moved to the Grande Prairie area in 1979 and a short while later they built a home and Faye set up a hair shop in Wembley, AB, called Corner Cut. She was the town hairdresser for a number of years. Ryan was born in July of 1979. The family remained in Wembley until 1991. Faye and Gerald met in 1991, Tanner was born in December 1992 and they were married in May of 1996.

Faye was well known for her honesty, great humor, spunky personality and good conversations. She enjoyed any activities that involved spending time with her late husband whether it was a football game in Florida or sitting at home on the couch watching TV.

In 2009 Faye committed her life to sobriety and the AA program where she was a devout member until her death. She was also a talented seamstress, and a natural green-thumb. She loved music, singing and dancing.

She enjoyed rockhounding, playing Dominion and Dragonvale. Pre-Covid, Faye had a trip planned every year. Her most recent passion was regularly attending classes at Orange Theory Fitness where she created many great friendships.

Faye will be deeply missed by her children: Brandie, Ryan (Chantelle) and Tanner; stepchildren: Jeret (Manda), Lance (Heather), and Shauna (Fletcher); grandchildren: Layton, Thales, Chael, Ryley, Dylan, Jenna, Inez, Declie, Layla, Mikey, Noah, Matthew, and Victoria; mother Ellen Rusaw; sisters Penny and Sharon Colvin; brother Wesley Colvin; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many, many special friends.

Faye was predeceased by her husband Gerald Young; father Kenneth Colvin; sister Linda Crispin; niece Tryna Boyle; as well as nephews Trevor Barrand and Glen Jacobsen.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday January 26, 2022, at 6:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.)
