Obituary For Enid Case (née Clarke)
Enid Case, née Clarke (July 8, 1940 – October 31, 2025)
and
John Bernard Case (March 12, 1935 - November 4, 2025)
The family of John and Enid would like to share the news of their peaceful passing at home, just days apart, surrounded by family.
Born in Lancashire and Sheffield, they met as a newly qualified Specialist General surgeon and a Registered nurse and married in 1963. In January 1970, they immigrated to a shockingly cold and remote Grande Prairie, AB (population about 12 000), with their 3 young children. As the first surgeon in northwestern Alberta, Dr. Case attended everything from orthopaedics to neurosurgery to obstetrics and beyond. Enid managed the business of the medical practice and the family home.
They retired to Qualicum Beach in 2004, where Enid renovated, gardened and walked, among many other activities. John enjoyed classical music and poetry and wrote his memoirs in a 3-book series.
They are survived by their children David (Annette), Douglas (Michelle), and Catherine (Gary), and grandchildren Kirsti (Chris), Tyler (Laura), Michaela, Mackenzie, Nikita (Tanner), Brianna (Justin) and Alexander.
At the request of Enid and John, there will be no memorial service.

David, Doug and Catherine, The Guderyan Family is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your Mom and Dad, Dr. and Mrs. Case to us. We have been reminiscing the times we shared since we heard the news. What wonderful parents you had and what an impact your entire family had on all of us growing up. Whether it was the Christmas carolling at the back door, the many evenings our parents spent socializing and us kids spent playing, at one another's homes, or the times we got to cat-sit Tinker! We have so many fond memories and all agree, you entire family added so much joy to our family. Please know we are holding you all close knowing how hard this is. Take solace in the knowledge that they lived remarkable lives, and that they left a lot of themselves in you, their remarkable children. Hugs and prayers.

This is a memory of Dr Case. As one of the few fans of the newly formed men's soccer team, I watched him score a goal from a corner kick. The team was made up of European men, living in Grande Prairie .

When I was a shy 17 year old coming from Australia to attend college in Grande Prairie my uncle John and Aunt Enid welcomed me into their family and to this day I feel part of their family still. They will be sorely missed. Always in my heart. Stephanie McArdle

I had the privilege to work with John for 23 years in Grande Prairie. He was one of the physicians who helped turn the QE2 from a community hospital to a regional hospital. He was a gentleman ( a rarity among surgeons) , highly skilled in all surgical disciplines, and caring. He was happiest when working after hours and telling his stories to the staff. He put his vast experiences and storytelling skills on paper after his retirement. John and Enid were an admired team. I am so glad that they finally escaped the North to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Qualicum Beach and a twenty year plus retirement. To the grandchildren- you come from great stock. Strength to family in the days ahead. Bob Staples
