Obituary For Emilie Marie Bean
Emilie Bean, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the age of 79 years.
Born in Sexsmith, AB, on April 12, 1947, to Agnes and Noel Boisvert, Emilie grew up in Wanham, AB. At the age of 12, she moved to Falher, where her father was the station agent for the Northern Alberta Railways. In 1968, she married Ken Bean, and after a brief period in Grimshaw, they settled in Grande Prairie. Over the years, Emilie worked for the RCMP, Social Services, and Alberta Education, where she made many lifelong friends. She was quite active in the community and built many social connections over the years.
In her spare time, Emilie pursued many passions. Her love for travel brought her and Ken to Europe, Tahiti, and Hawaii, to name a few. They greatly enjoyed spending time in Arizona, where they had gained many friends. She and her daughter delighted in taking trips to places like New York, Prague, and Montreal, where Emilie connected with her French-Canadian roots.
A creative soul, she loved fashion and always looked like a million dollars! Emilie absolutely loved Christmas and decorating, resulting in her house appearing to be right out of a magazine. She found great joy in animals, reading, beautiful flowers, and spending time in the garden.
Emilie had an infectious laugh, and her smile could light up any room. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, generous spirit, and devotion to her family.
She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Ken; her daughter, Jennifer (Gordon); her son, Kris; her grandchildren, Jackson and Kole; her sisters, Louise and Patricia; her best friends, Bev, Joyce, Eleanor, and Marion; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Noel; her brother, Roger; and many special pets over the years.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Lisa Peters and Nataliya Makh, whose loving care allowed Emilie to remain peacefully at home. We are forever grateful for the compassion and comfort they provided.
Emilie’s funeral service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (10404-102 St, Grande Prairie), followed by interment at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave and 112 St). Afterward, a reception with food and fellowship will take place at the Four Points by Sheraton (6702-106 St, Grande Prairie).
Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (bandagedpaws.org/donate).

Emily - affectionately nicknamed Momma Bean - was such a special gift in my life. 🩷 she was the perfect mix of classy and sassy, with a way of making you feel like you were the only person in the room. I am so grateful to have shared her in my life and to have been touched by her kindness. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. J
