Obituary For Elizabeth (Bette) Ann Chledowski (née Tosczak)

Elizabeth (Bette) Ann Chledowski (née Tosczak) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 10, 2026, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) at the age of 79.

Bette Ann was born on March 12, 1947, at the Grande Prairie Hospital to parents Fred and Ida Tosczak. She was the youngest of seven children and lived in Grande Prairie for the first 20 years of her life. Bette Ann graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in 1965 and earned her diploma in Secretarial Science/Office Administration in 1967.

Bette Ann was determined, focused, unwavering, supportive, generous, compassionate, and sharp-witted. These qualities were the foundation of her successes in everything she chose to pursue. Some of her ventures included farming, serving as a business partner and manager, co-chair of the Grande Prairie Catholic School Board, participation with the Clairmont Agricultural Society, and being a long-standing member of the CWL.

Bette Ann’s hobbies and interests included baking and decorating wedding cakes, painting, floral arranging, crocheting, needlepoint, and cross-stitching. She loved growing anything and everything.

Bette Ann will be deeply missed by her husband, Valentine (Val), of almost 59 years; her children, Michael (Cheryl) Chledowski and Michelle (Dennis) Biendarra; her grandchildren, Shaun (Katelyn) Biendarra, Denielle (Andrew) Godin, Matthew Chledowski, and Joshua Chledowski; her brother, Robert Tosczak; along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Bette Ann was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ida Tosczak; brothers, Lenord, Edward, Gordon, and Douglas; and her sister, Shirley.

The family would like to take this opportunity to express their gratitude to the doctors and the entire care team of Unit 23 at the GPRH for their compassion and dedication to overseeing Bette Ann’s care and needs while she was there.

A Celebration of Life for Bette Ann will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (10404 102nd Street), Grande Prairie, AB.

The celebration will be livestreamed and recorded for anyone who is unable to attend in person through the Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

A private interment service will be held with family members at the Emerson Trail Cemetery.
