Obituary For Eleanor Graumann Wade

Eleanor Wade was born October 16, 1931 to Frank and Emilie Graumann in Wanham, Alberta, and passed away June 19, 2015 in the Grande Prairie Care Centre. Eleanor was raised on a farm in the Belloy-Smoky area where her parents were homesteaders.
Â

She attended Grade School in a one room classroom in the basement of the local church. For High School she went to Canadian Union College, (now known as Parkview Adventist Academy/Burman University). Due to lack of funds she was unable to complete High School and returned to the farm.
Â
On October 18, 1950 she married Reinhold (Ron) Comm. They spent several winters living in logging camps/sawmills, where she would also work at times, keeping track of the board feet of lumber that were hauled out, or helping with cooking. In the spring of 1963, Eleanor was left alone to raise her three children, Trudie, Glenn and Anneli. Due to a back injury in her early 30s life became more difficult on the farm. After completing grade 12 by correspondence, in 1968 Eleanor went back to school, taking the Certified Nursing Aid course (LPN). In September 1969, Eleanor started working in the Maternity department of the Grande Prairie Hospital then transitioned to the new Q.E.II. She loved and excelled at her job working with moms and babies, and spent 24 years working there. In 1993, due to a hip injury from a fall, she had to go on disability, which became long-term. She officially retired in October 1995.
Â

On April 8, 1971 Eleanor married Chet Wade, and they moved to Chets homestead in Grovedale where she resided until shortly before her death. Eleanor was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Eleanor loved children, and spent 30+ years teaching the kindergarten class at church. She loved people and was known as â??momâ?? by many.
Â
Eleanor loved to garden and grow flowers. Her park-like back yard was a testament to her and Chets hard work. Eleanor also loved to cook, bake and preserve the produce and fruit grown in her garden and back yard. Many people enjoyed a meal in her home and would often ask for her recipes. Eleanor loved to travel and made a trip to Malawi, Africa, where Trudie was working. She also traveled to Hawaii, and numerous trips in Canada and the U.S. with Trudie.
Â

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Emilie, her husband Chet in 1994, her brother-in-law Warren Rottacker in 2013.
Â

She is survived by her children Trudie Comm of Grovedale, Alberta, Glenn (Dalyce) of Calgary, Alberta, Anneli (Alan) Laws of Oliver, B.C. Grandchildren Shelby Maletz-Comm, Naiomi (Joshua) Neufeld, Sarah (Thomas) Solbrekken, Christopher Laws, and two great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Cohen Solbrekken. Her sister, Evelyn Rottacker and only remaining cousin in Canada, Edgar Boettcher of Barhead. She will be missed by her â??adoptedâ?? daughter Vicky (Sam) Dayondon (Seth, Jed) and many other relatives and friends.
