Obituary For Eldon Harry Vandemark

Eldon Harry Vandemark, resident of Grovedale, AB, formerly of Manning, AB, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Grovedale, at the age of 91 years.

Eldon was born on October 12, 1933, in Hotchkiss, AB, where he lived and attended school through Grade 9. After completing his schooling, he worked in various local jobs before moving to the Woking, AB, area in 1952, where he operated CATS and farmed for Stan Moore Construction.

In 1953, Eldon moved to the Grovedale area. From 1956 to 1959, he worked with Hackwell Construction & Forestry. In 1963, he began his long career with Canfor, where he remained employed for 26 years until his retirement.

Eldon had a deep passion for hard work, especially when it came to farming and raising cattle, interests that remained close to his heart throughout his life.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Aleta Vandemark; his sons Gerald Vandemark and Douglas (Rhonda) Vandemark; grandchild Kacie Vandemark; brother Ray Vandemark of Manning, AB; brother-in-law Bob Yates; sisters: Fay Connors of Calgary, AB, Doris Theobald of Fort St. John, BC, and Sharon Walton of Manning, AB; and daughter-in-law Lesley Vandemark of Grovedale, AB.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vane and Della Vandemark; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Evelyn Yates; his son, Darcy Vandemark; his sisters Joyce Dawyduik and Shirley Assmussen; niece Patricia Dawyduik; nephew Donald Assmussen; and brothers Bob, Gale, Laverne, Donald, and Alan Vandemark.

A funeral service for Eldon will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at the Grovedale Community Hall (6366 Twp Road 700) in Grovedale, AB.

Memorial donations in Eldon's honour may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
